ST. PAUL, Minnesota (Ticker) -- Brett Hull collected a goal and two assists as the Detroit Red Wings pulled away for a 5-2 victory over the Minnesota Wild.

Coming off Thursday's shutout at Columbus that ended a five-game unbeaten streak, Detroit produced 33 shots in its second visit to the Xcel Energy Center in seven days. A week ago, the Red Wings rallied for a 1-1 tie with the Wild.

"You don't expect to come in here and get five goals against a team like this," Detroit coach Dave Lewis said. "It's not easy for us to come in here and get two points in this building."

Hull swiped a one-timer past goaltender Dwayne Roloson just 2:09 into the first period, then set up defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom's go-ahead goal in the second period and Pavel Datsyuk's empty-netter with two seconds to go in the third.

Lidstrom broke a 2-2 deadlock at 7:14 of the middle period, just over three minutes after teammate Boyd Devereaux forged the tie.

"I was lucky that it hit their defender, but I'll take it," Devereaux said of his second goal of the season. "It's nice when you get a bounce like that."

Lidstrom got a pass from Datsyuk to the right of the crease, stopped the puck with his skate, then roofed it off the crossbar.

Richard Park and Alexandre Daigle scored for the Wild, who fell to 1-3-1 in their last five games.

Daigle's team-best eighth goal gave Minnesota a 2-1 lead that lasted just 23 seconds.

"Boyd's goal was a big one," Red Wings center Kris Draper said. "They go up 2-1, then Boyd steps up and gets that big goal for us a couple of shifts later."

"They were coming fast. When they're on their game like they were tonight, they come up with speed," Wild coach Jacques Lemaire said.

Detroit got 27 saves from Curtis Joseph, who made just his fourth start of the season.

"Curtis really battled tonight. You could tell that he was really into the game," Lewis said. "There were scrambles and scrums in front of the net and you could see him really try to find the puck."

"It was a rough game out there," Minnesota center Wes Walz said. "They were all over us in our zone. Sometimes it seemed like they had six of them out there."
