EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey (Ticker) -- Patrick Elias scored two goals, including the game-winner 39 seconds into overtime, as the New Jersey Devils stretched their unbeaten streak to 11 games with a 2-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Defenseman Brian Rafalski intercepted a pass in his own zone and quickly dished to Elias, who broke out on a 1-on-1. The Devils' leading scorer each of the last four seasons unleashed a wrist shot from the high slot that beat rookie goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury to the left side.

"I scored with not a great shot," Elias said. "I will take any goal. It was a quick pass out of the zone by Ralfie and I just tried to skate it out and get in good position to shoot it."

"I wasn't screened, but I am not sure if it touched (Drake) Berehowsky's stick," Fleury said. "I think I just misjudged it and it went in."

Elias gave New Jersey a 1-0 lead 3:45 into the game and Martin Brodeur made it stand until the final minute of the third period. Penguins defenseman Dick Tarnstrom converted a cross-crease pass from Aleksey Morozov for a power-play tally with 27 seconds left, knotting the game and denying the Devils' goalie his fourth shutout of the season.

Brodeur finished with 18 saves while Fleury, who also was on the short end of a 2-1 decision against the Devils on October 24, turned aside 31 shots.

"You just have to work hard and bounce back as hard as possible," said Fleury, who allowed three goals on nine shots before being pulled early in the previous start. "It's very easy to be up for a game against the Devils."

Brodeur was impressed with the play of his 18-year-old counterpart.

"He played really well against us in Pittsburgh and he is the reason why they got a point tonight," Brodeur said. "We won in overtime, but it would have been over sooner if it wasn't for the way he played."

Defenseman Scott Niedermayer had assists on both goals for New Jersey, which improved to 9-3-0 in its last 12 meetings with Pittsburgh.

The Penguins have been outscored, 37-14, during a 1-6-0-1 slide.

Rico Fata returned to action for Pittsburgh after missing four games with a left hamstring injury.

"We were able to get a point of out it," said Fata, who leads the Penguins with seven goals and 11 points. "We are definitely happy with the point. We wanted the two, but we will take it."
