NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) -- Martin Erat's career night helped extend the Nashville Predators' winning streak.

Erat scored a goal and set up two others and linemates Vladimir Orszagh and Denis Arkhipov each added a goal and an assist as the Predators withstood a late rally and held on for their third straight win, 4-3 over the New York Islanders.

"The Vowel Line played really well," Nashville coach Barry Trotz said. "They are getting results because they are working hard."

With four two-point games in his brief NHL career, Erat gave Nashville a 2-0 lead 5:11 into the second period with his second goal of the season. Later in the period, he assisted on a power-play tally by Orszagh, who extended his goal-scoring streak to three games.

Orszagh, a 1995 Islanders' draft pick who played 34 games for them over three seasons, clearly enjoyed playing well against his former team.

"I'm happy to show them that I can play at this level," he said.

Eight minutes into the third, Erat fed Arkhipov to give the Predators a 4-1 cushion. Erat has six points in his last three contests after totaling eight in 27 games last season.

"It's great. When I get more and more ice time, I seem to be getting a lot more chances," Erat said.

"He's skating well, he's gotten a lot stronger on the wall and playing really well," Trotz added.

The Islanders entered this game with the NHL's top-ranked penalty-killing unit but surrendered two goals on six power-play chances.

"We scored two power-play goals, that was the key to the game," Erat said.

Justin Mapletoft and Arron Asham scored 2:36 apart midway through the third to draw New York within a goal, but Tomas Vokoun stopped the Islanders' next six shots, including two by leading scorer Mariusz Czerkawski in the final 23 seconds.

"We started to pick it up the last five, six minutes of the game, but it was just too little, too late," Asham said.

Vokoun made 26 saves in his 11th consecutive start, notching his third straight win.

"I made a mistake on the (Asham) goal to make things interesting, but it is a great feeling to have won three games in a row," Vokoun said.

Defenseman Marek Zidlicky also scored for the Predators, who improved to 5-3-0-1 all-time against the Islanders.

Garth Snow stopped 18 shots for New York.

"We didn't give Snow much help," Islanders coach Steve Stirling said.
