CALGARY, Alberta (Ticker) -- Defenseman Jordan Leopold recorded his first career two-goal game and Jamie McLennan made 15 saves for his second shutout of the season as the Calgary Flames defeated the reeling Columbus Blue Jackets, 3-0.

Leopold opened the scoring 4:16 into the game on the power play and made it 2-0 with 4:18 left in the period. He had four goals in 58 games as a rookie last season.

Through nine games in 2003-04, the Flames had not gotten a goal from their defensemen.

McLennan needed to stop just five shots in the first period, six in the second and four in the third en route to his second shutout in seven appearances. He is 5-2-0 with a 1.36 goals-against average, mostly in place of the injured Roman Turek.

Steven Reinprecht had a pair of assists and Shean Donovan scored a shorthanded empty-net goal for the Flames, who rebounded from a pair of losses.

Marc Denis made 31 saves for the Blue Jackets, who suffered their seventh straight loss since a 3-1-0 start and fell to 0-6-0 on the road.
