ST. LOUIS (Ticker) -- The Chicago Blackhawks got goals from a couple of unexpected sources and continued their solid play away from home.

Defenseman Nathan Dempsey was credited with a goal that the St. Louis Blues shot into their own net and Travis Moen scored his first in the NHL as the Blackhawks extended their road unbeaten streak to five games with a 3-2 triumph.

Chicago was trailing, 1-0, when Dempsey fanned on a shot at the top of the left faceoff circle. Blues rookie Johnny Pohl tried to clear the puck but shot it off the skate of teammate Alex Khavanov, surprising goaltender Chris Osgood at 4:09 of the second period.

Steve Sullivan put Chicago in front for good just under seven minutes later with a power-play goal and Moen capped the three-goal period at 18:05. Held without a point in his first 11 games, Moen beat Osgood with a wrist shot from the bottom of the left circle.

Jocelyn Thibault made 31 saves for the Blackhawks, who also extended their unbeaten streak against the Blues to four games (3-0-1).

St. Louis got goals from Eric Nickulas and Dallas Drake but had a three-game winning streak snapped. The Blues were trying to win their first three home games for the first time since the 2000-01 season.
