ST. PAUL, Minnesota (Ticker) -- With the way Wes Walz and Andrew Brunette are going, having Marian Gaborik back in the lineup will be a luxury for the Minnesota Wild.

Walz and Brunette extended their goal-scoring streaks to three games as the Wild held the Washington Capitals to 16 shots en route to a 2-1 triumph.

After enduring a five-game winless stretch, the Wild have picked up victories in three of their last four contests. Walz has tallied in each of the wins while Brunette has found the net in each of the last two.

Both players were instrumental in this one. Walz beat goaltender Olaf Kolzig late in the first period to give Minnesota a 1-0 lead. With the Wild on a power play midway through the second, Brunette opened a two-goal cushion with his third of the season.

Dwayne Roloson cruised through 42 minutes, stopping all 10 shots he faced, before Robert Lang netted a power-play goal to halve Washington's deficit. But Roloson turned aside the final five shots to seal the Wild's third straight victory over the Capitals.

Gaborik ended his holdout Friday by signing a multi-year contract but was a late scratch by coach Jacques Lemaire.
