SAN DIEGO (Ticker) -- Brett Favre reached another milestone and the Green Bay Packers have reached the top of the NFC North Division.

Favre threw four touchdown passes and Ahman Green and Ryan Longwell also established team records as the Packers posted a 38-21 victory over the San Diego Chargers.

Green Bay (8-6) won for the fourth time in five games, tying Minnesota for first place with two games left. The Packers also tied Seattle for the second wild card.

"We didn't even talk about Seattle or Minnesota," said Packers coach Mike Sherman, who improved his record to 14-2 all-time in December. "That is not relevant to us. What is relevant is how we play."

With his seven-yard scoring pass to Donald Driver late in the second quarter, Favre set a team record with a TD pass in his 23rd straight game. He surpassed the previous mark of Cecil Isbell. But Favre, a three-time Most Valuable Player, was far from done as he threw three touchdown passes in under eight minutes in a wild fourth quarter.

"I don't think he (Johnny Unitas) has anything to worry about," said Favre, who completed 23-of-33 passes for 278 yards. "It is hard enough to throw one in 23 games in a row, let alone 47."

Green established a a mark of his own, breaking Hall of Famer Jim Taylor's single-season rushing mark. Green rushed for 75 yards, giving him 1,538 on the season. Taylor rushed for 1,474 yards in 1962.

"I am not really going to look at it now, I am focused on our team and what we need to do," Green said. "Maybe in the offseason we will look at it and celebrate but not now."

Longwell completed the trifecta by surpassing Don Hutson as the all-time leading scorer in franchise history. Longwell converted five extra points and a field goal, giving him 826 career points.

"I was just hoping to make the roster, let alone the all-time scoring leader," said Longwell, who is in his seventh season. "It is an honor for me to be at the top of a list like that for an organization like this. It is very humbling."

LaDainian Tomlinson had a huge day for the Chargers (3-11). He had 11 catches for 144 yards and two touchdowns and added 51 yards rushing. Last Sunday, Tomlinson had 236 total yards and two touchdowns in a loss at Detroit.

Tomlinson attempted to take over the game in the fourth quarter, scoring on receptions of seven and 68 yards in the opening 2:50 of the period as the Chargers erased an 11-point deficit to take a 21-17 lead.

But Favre needed two plays before finding Robert Ferguson over the middle for a 40-yard touchdown pass, giving the Packers a 24-21 lead with 11:18 remaining.

Less than four minutes later, the Packers' defense set up the offense when tackle Grady Jackson sacked Drew Brees, who fumbled on the play. Linebacker Hannibal Navies recovered for the Packers at the San Diego 1. On the next play, Favre found Green wide open for a touchdown, extending the lead to 31-21.

Making his return to the starting lineup, Brees completed 28-of-48 passes for a career-high 363 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. He also lost two fumbles.

"His job is to take care of the ball," Chargers coach Marty Schottenheimer said. "If he gets sacked, he's got to hold onto the ball. It's the same way for guys who catch it and run with it. That is a fact of life in the National Football League."
