SAN FRANCISCO (Ticker) -- Jeff Garcia took out some of his frustrations on the Arizona Cardinals.

Garcia threw four touchdown passes and ran for two more as the San Francisco 49ers gave the Cardinals a 50-14 drubbing.

After throwing four interceptions in his return last week after missing three games with a sprained ankle, Garcia completed 19-of-28 passes for 252 yards and rushed for 32 yards.

"Considering how we played last week, it was definitely a vindication to not be embarrassing ourselves again," Garcia said. "Now the question is can we continue to be that same team on the road against Cincinnati next week."

Garcia started the rout himself, running for a three-yard touchdown 2:43 into the game. San Francisco (6-7) led 34-0 at halftime and cruised in the second half for its fifth straight home victory.

"Jeff looked good," 49ers coach Dennis Erickson said. "He read the plays, he moved around. He gave himself a second chance."

Two of Garcia's touchdown passes went to Terrell Owens, who celebrated his 30th birthday by catching seven passes for 92 yards.

"It was a good win for us today and a good birthday present for me as well," Owens said. "It was good to get involved early, because they didn't allow me to get involved early in the first game. The losses that we have had, I haven't been able to get involved early on."

Kevan Barlow made his first career start for the 49ers, and made the most of the opportunity. Barlow scored San Francisco's other touchdown on a 46-yard dash as he ran for 154 yards on 18 carries.

It was the most points the 49ers have scored since putting up 50 against the Atlanta Falcons in 1994, and the most allowed by the Cardinals since 1981, when they played in St. Louis and gave up 52 to the Philadelphia Eagles.

"I'm in shock," Cardinals coach Dave McGinnis said. "I never thought we'd come out here and not stop their offense. I was upset the whole day. It was 34-0 before anybody even looked up."

It was not just a show by San Francisco's offense. 49ers safety Tony Parrish had an interception for the fifth straight game, and San Francisco limited Arizona to 217 yards of total offense.

The Cardinals (3-10) lost their 12th straight road game, dating back to last season. They have lost their seven road contests this season by an average of 24.4 points.
