GREEN BAY, Wisconsin (Ticker) -- Cornerback Mike McKenzie helped Brett Favre continue his mastery of the Chicago Bears.

McKenzie scored on a 90-yard interception return as the Green Bay Packers forced five turnovers and rallied from an early 14-point deficit for a 34-21 triumph over the Bears.

Making his 186th consecutive start, Favre improved to 20-4 lifetime against Chicago.

"I don't feel any added advantage against these guys," he said. "For whatever reason, we play well against them. They played well today, and at one point, it looked like they were going to take this one."

Favre helped put the Packers in a 14-0 hole as rookie linebacker Lance Briggs returned an interception 45 yards for a touchdown in the final minute of the first quarter.

"Anytime you spot a team 14 points, it's tough to come back from," Favre said. "In a game like the Bears' game, you can really throw out records and statistics and all that stuff. So to spot them 14 points and give them life is not good."

McKenzie returned the favor early in the fourth quarter. With the Bears (5-8) trailing by five points and driving, McKenzie stepped in front of Dez White, got key blocks from safety Darren Sharper and linebacker Nick Barnett and matched the fourth-longest interception return in team history.

"We knew they were taking shots and we figured they were going to try to pick up the first down," McKenzie said. "They threw a pass out to the flat and I made a play." "That was a point where you think you are going to end up being at the worst two (scores) down. And all of a sudden, the whole thing is turned around," Bears coach Dick Jauron said.

Ahman Green tacked on a two-yard touchdown run but fell 13 yards short of breaking Jim Taylor's long-standing single-season team rushing record.

Favre completed 22-of-33 passes for 210 yards with an interception. His 22-yard scoring strike to Javon Walker late in the second quarter gave him touchdown passes in 22 consecutive games, trying Cecil Isbell's team record.

"What frustrates me is everyone says, 'Brett Favre's record and how he's done against the Bears and (his) record in cold temperatures,'" Favre said. "I'm just one of 53. Unlike baseball, where one pitcher can shut everyone out, in football it takes a team."

Ryan Longwell kicked four field goals for Green Bay (7-6), which has won the last seven meetings with Chicago. The Packers remained one game behind first-place Minnesota in the NFC Central.

"Certainly, this was a must-win for us here at home," Green Bay coach Mike Sherman said. "Playing the Bears adds even more juice to the fire because it is the Bears. That's a rivalry game, you have to play well."

It was just the third loss in seven games for the Bears, who were held to 44 rushing yards. Kordell Stewart was 17-of-40 for 256 yards with three interceptions and a TD.

"I wouldn't say it hurt, but you would like to have (a running game) that helps you do a little play action and things like that," Stewart said. "You can be more balanced when you have that occurring. But that's not an excuse."

Stewart started the scoring with a 61-yard pass to Marty Booker and Chicago doubled its lead less than a minute later on Briggs' interception return. Booker had five receptions for 115 yards.

Longwell had a pair of field goals before Favre and Walker connected to get the Packers within 14-13 at halftime.

"We just didn't get it done," Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher said. "We had some chances there in the early fourth quarter, late third quarter, to make some plays and we just didn't do it."
