EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey (Ticker) -- Those that are kind call the New York Giants' season challenging. Others prefer embarrassing.

Among the favorites to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl at the start of the season, the Giants continued their stunningly porous play against the Buffalo Bills, who finally got untracked offensively in a 24-7 victory.

The Bills had scored only two offensive touchdowns - both last week - in their previous five games. But Drew Bledsoe threw for a pair in the second quarter as Buffalo grabbed a 17-7 halftime lead.

It was all downhill from there for the Giants, who suffered their fourth straight loss overall and fifth in a row at home for the first time since 1983, when they went 3-12-1 in Bill Parcells' first season as coach.

"We do not play the game of football very well," coach Jim Fassel said. "We cannot block people, we don't tackle people, we don't cover people, we don't catch the ball in critical situations.

"I have never seen it and never in my seven years here have we ever played football the way we are playing right now. Honestly, I am at a loss for words."

His players agreed.

"It's been challenging to get ready to play, obviously through some of the tough losses like we had today," quarterback Kerry Collins said.

"It was embarrassing," defensive tackle Cornelius Griffin added. "We have to come in tomorrow and look at films and just try to get better. Each individual has really got to look at himself."

Bills coach Gregg Williams had plenty to say after his team snapped a four-game skid. Buffalo completely dominated the game, holding a 403-222 advantage in total yards and an 18-minute edge in time of possession.

"We had an awful lot of contributors today from every area of the team," he said.

The Bills endured another scoreless first quarter before breaking out in the second. Bledsoe started it with a 24-yard TD pass - the team's first in 16 periods - to tight end Dave Moore just 11 seconds into the quarter.

New York answered on its next play from scrimmage as Collins hooked up with Amani Toomer on a 77-yard score down the middle of the field. The Giants thought they would be able to build some momentum.

"Sure," Collins said. "Big play like that, we tied the score."

But that was New York's only score against a defense that began the day ranked second in the AFC. The Bills completely shut down New York's offense, holding it to 24 yards rushing.

"We can dominate the game, and that is what is making the season so disappointing," safety Lawyer Milloy said. "We don't just win games, we dominate games."

After Rian Lindell put Buffalo on top for good with a 26-yard field goal, Bledsoe threw a 22-yard touchdown to Bobby Shaw for a 17-7 lead with 4:07 left in the first half.

Coming back from a concussion that limited him in practice this week, Bledsoe completed 19-of-29 passes for 252 yards. He had thrown only six touchdowns all season.

"We made some big plays," Bledsoe said. "It was about time, because we've been struggling for a while now."
