MIAMI (Ticker) -- The Houston Texans again worked some Opening Day magic.

Cornerback Marcus Coleman's interception set up a 35-yard field goal by Kris Brown with 25 seconds left as the Texans stunned the Miami Dolphins, 21-20.

The Texans won their inaugural NFL game over the Dallas Cowboys in 2002 and on Sunday became the first expansion team to win their first two season openers.

"We would like to keep playing these openers," Texans coach Dom Capers said. "We've had pretty good luck. This is a tremendous win for us because we have so much respect for the Dolphins."

Houston did it at the expense of one of football's best September teams. The Dolphins had won their last 11 season openers and were 31-9 in the month over the past 10 years.

"Our guys knew exactly what we were getting into," Miami coach Dave Wannstedt said. "Playing at home in the first game, there was no overlooking it."

Coleman helped end that when he stepped in front of a pass from Jay Fiedler, giving the Texans the ball at the Miami 29 with 3:53 remaining. Houston then moved into position for Brown, who kicked his fifth field goal of the game and the seventh game-winner of his career.

"It was just another day at the office for this job," Brown said. "It's exciting when you can go out and change the outcome of the game."

Coleman ended Miami's final chance when he intercepted a desperation pass by Fiedler to end the game.

"No one was talking about us at all," Coleman said. "I mean we're paid to play football, too."

Miami had taken a 20-15 lead early in the fourth quarter on a 35-yard TD pass from Fiedler to running back Ricky Williams. Williams carried 17 times for 69 yards and caught five passes for 60 yards.

The Texans outgained the Dolphins, 393-301, but their drives often fell short of the end zone. Brown was there when the offense stalled, converting from 36, 50, 23, 24 and 35 yards.

Houston was 4-12 in its inaugural season and one of the main problems was an offensive line that allowed quarterback David Carr to be sacked an NFL-record 76 times. Carr was not sacked Sunday and completed 17-of-31 passes for 266 yards.

"Anytime we have zero sacks it almost turns the game into seven-on-seven," Carr said. "When we do that, we have more than enough skill on the outside."

One of his favorite targets was first-round draft choice Andre Johnson, the former University of Miami star who caught six passes for 76 yards.

"This was very special," Johnson said. "Everyone thought we were underdogs. We knew we just had to make more plays than them."

The biggest play for Carr was a 78-yard TD pass to Corey Bradford with 4:22 left in the third quarter to cut the 14-12.

The Dolphins, considered a Super Bowl candidate, also had won their last eight home openers.

"We just have to get a lot better and quit talking about all the talent we have here," linebacker Zach Thomas said. "Yes, we usually always start strong and this time we didn't, but those things happen. It humbles you, but it should also make you better."

Houston took the lead at 15-14 on Brown's third field goal with 21 seconds left in the third quarter.

The Dolphins regained the lead on Fiedler's TD pass to Williams, but a two-point conversion pass failed. Brown cut the lead to 20-10 with his 24-yarder with 4:55 left.

Miami wasted a big game from Chris Chambers, who caught seven passes for 118 yards. He caught TD passes of 57 yards and 21 yards in the second quarter to give the Dolphins a 14-6 halftime lead.

"The loss takes the shine off my effort today," Chambers said. "We had rhythm at times, but not at others. We are the type of team that can bounce back and bounce back quickly."

Fielder threw three touchdown passes and was 17-of-32 for 227 yards.

Dolphins cornerback Sam Madison left the game in the fourth quarter with an ankle injury and did not return.
