SAN DIEGO (Ticker) -- The Green Bay Packers' playoff fate may be determined by the AFC West.
The Packers make the first of two consecutive trips to the West Coast on Sunday when they face the San Diego Chargers at Qualcomm Stadium.
Green Bay is in the thick of the NFC wild card race, trailing Seattle and Dallas by one game. The Packers also are just one game behind first-place Minnesota in the North.
But the Packers will have their playoff destiny determined by what they do against the AFC West. After this game, the Packers play at Oakland before closing the season at home against Denver.
Despite Brett Favre's struggles, the Packers have won three of their last four games, including last Sunday's 34-21 victory over the Chicago Bears. Favre did play well against the Bears, completing 22-of-33 passes for 210 yards and one touchdown with an interception. But he still has eight interceptions and six touchdown passes in his last four games.
Already looking toward next season, the Chargers snapped a three-game losing streak last week with a 14-7 victory at Detroit.
LaDainian Tomlinson had a huge game against the Lions, catching nine passes for 148 yards and two touchdowns while adding 88 yards rushing. Tomlinson ranks sixth in the NFL in rushing with 1,260 yards.
San Diego coach Marty Schottenheimer is switching back to quarterback Drew Brees as his starter for this game. Brees was benched after the Chargers struggled to a 1-7 start. They were 2-3 with 41-year-old Doug Flutie as the starter.
Green Bay leads the series, 6-1.
