Houston Texans at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Recap | Boxscore

TAMPA, Florida (Ticker) -- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are still holding slim hopes of reaching the postseason heading into Sunday's game against the Houston Texans.

The defending Super Bowl champion Buccaneers are two games behind Seattle and Dallas in the wild card race with three games remaining. Tampa Bay also trails first-place Carolina by two games in the NFC South, but lose the tiebreaker.

Before they could even start thinking about the playoffs, the Bucs have to try to put together consecutive wins - something they been unable to do this season. Tampa Bay does seem to have a favorable schedule. After this contest, the Bucs host Atlanta next week before closing the season with a challenging contest at Tennessee.

The Bucs have been anything but dominant at home this season, going 2-4.

Last Sunday, the Bucs posted a 14-7 victory at New Orleans. End Simeon Rice led a strong defensive effort with three sacks.

The Bucs' defense likely will have to face Texans quarterback David Carr, who missed last week's game at Jacksonville with the flu. He also has been hampered by an injury to his right shoulder.

Without Carr, the Texans were down to rookie Dave Ragone and suffered a 27-0 loss to Jacksonville. Houston managed just 124 total yards and seven first downs.

This is the first meeting between the teams.
