Buffalo Bills at Tennessee Titans

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) -- The Buffalo Bills return to the scene of the crime Sunday when they visit the Tennessee Titans.

In January 2000, the Titans beat Buffalo, 22-16 in an AFC wild card game that is known in playoff lore as "The Music City Miracle."

Steve Christie kicked a 41-yard field goal with 16 seconds left to give the Bills a 16-15 lead. But on the ensuing kickoff, Frank Wycheck fired a suspicious looking cross-field lateral to Kevin Dyson, who raced 75 yards for a touchdown with three seconds remaining. The legality of the lateral was confirmed following a video replay review and the Titans emerged with a stunning 22-16 victory.

This is the Bills' first visit to the Coliseum since that game and they have a different cast of characters, but coach Jeff Fisher, quarterback Steve McNair, running back Eddie George, tackle Brad Hopkins, Wycheck, defensive end Jevon Kearse and cornerback Samari Rolle are among those who remain for the Titans.

The Bills haven't made it to the playoffs since that heartbreaking defeat, but Tennessee appears to be on the verge of making the playoffs for the fourth time in five years.

The Titans committed four turnovers and lost to the Indianapolis Colts, 29-27 last week. That defeat likely cost them a realistic chance at winning the AFC South title. Tennessee is one game behind the first-place Colts, who hold the tiebreaker advantage on the basis of a head-to-head sweep, with three games left.

But the Titans reside in the first wild-card spot, one game ahead of Miami and Denver. They can clinch a playoff spot with a win Sunday and losses by Miami and Cincinnati.

Tennessee is coming off back-to-back losses and had an 11-game home winning streak, including playoffs, snapped in last week's loss to Indianapolis.

McNair threw for 235 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for a score, but could not overcome his team's four turnovers against the Colts. Three of the turnovers came on kick returns, including two by Eddie Berlin.

The Titans have the NFL's top-ranked run defense and will try to stuff Travis Henry on Sunday. Henry rushed for a career-high 169 yards in the Bills' 17-6 victory over the New York Jets last week, raising his season total to 1,139 yards.

Buffalo has allowed a total of 52 points in its last five games and is coming off back-to-back wins over the New York Giants and New York Jets.
