Detroit Lions at Kansas City Chiefs

Recap | Boxscore

KANSAS CITY, Missouri (Ticker) -- If recent history is any indication, the Detroit Lions will match a dubious NFL record while the Kansas City Chiefs will win the AFC West title on Sunday.

The Lions have lost 22 straight road games, matching Buffalo for the second-longest streak in NFL history. With a loss to the Chiefs, they will match the longest mark in league history, set by the Houston Oilers from 1981-84

Detroit has not won away from home since a 10-7 victory over the New York Jets on December 17, 2000.

This season, the Lions have dropped their six road contests by an average of 12.5 points per game.

To make matters worse, the Lions are facing a team that has been flawless at home. Kansas City has won its six home games by an average of 15.3 points and is averaging 33.0 points in those contests.

The Chiefs could secure their first division title since 1997 with one more win or a loss by Denver.

Last Sunday, the Chiefs failed in their first attempt to win the division title as they suffered a 45-27 loss at Denver. Kansas City had its worst defensive performance of the season, allowing 508 total yards and 26 first downs.

Despite the loss, the Chiefs still were able to clinch a wild card berth.

The Chiefs' defense should have a much easier time with the Lions, who rank 31st in the league in scoring offense, averaging 16.1 points.

Detroit struggled offensively in last Sunday's 14-7 loss to San Diego, failing to cross midfield until the fourth quarter.

Kansas City leads the series, 6-3.
