Recap | Boxscore

EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey (Ticker) -- The New York Jets have had their problems with the Pennsylvania teams.

On Sunday, they will host the Pittsburgh Steelers in one of the most one-sided series in the NFL.

The Steelers have won 14 of the 15 meetings, including the last five by the combined score of 102-27. New York's only win in the series was a 24-20 victory here in 1988.

The Jets are also 0-7 against the Philadelphia Eagles, making them 1-21 against the Pennsylvania clubs. They had a crack against the Eagles this season, but lost at Philadelphia, 24-17 on October 26.

In Herman Edwards' first year as coach in 2001, the Jets were beaten at Pittsburgh, 18-7. New York made the playoffs in each of Edwards' first two seasons, but is not headed to the postseason this time.

The Steelers will also be missing from the playoff party after making the postseason eight of the previous 11 years under coach Bill Cowher.

After a modest two-game winning streak, the Jets lost at Buffalo, 17-6 last week and need to win their last three to avoid their first losing season since 1996. Chad Pennington was sacked five times and passed for just 155 yards in the loss to Buffalo.

New York ranks 30th against the run and yielded 203 yards to the Bills.

Jerome Bettis rushed for 106 yards in the Steelers' 27-7 victory over the Oakland Raiders last week.

This game features Bettis, the NFL's ninth all-time leading rusher with 12,077 yards, and New York's Curtis Martin, who is 12th on the all-time list with 11,247 yards.

The 31-year-old Bettis, who may be in his last season with Pittsburgh, is closing in on Steelers Hall of Famer Franco Harris, who is eighth overall with 12,120 yards.

The 30-year-old Martin has rushed for 953 yards this season, leaving him 47 shy of his ninth straight 1,000-yard campaign. The record for most consecutive 1,000-yard seasons to begin a career is 10, held by Barry Sanders.
