Recap | Boxscore

KANSAS CITY, Missouri (Ticker) -- The unbeaten Kansas City Chiefs look for their first eight-game winning streak in franchise history Sunday night when they host the Buffalo Bills.

Already off to the best start in their 44-year existence, the Chiefs also won seven in a row in 1969 and 1995. Coach Dick Vermeil also is 7-0 for the first time in his career.

Kansas City and Minnesota (6-0) are the lone remaining unbeaten teams in the NFL.

Last Monday, the Chiefs nearly squandered a 14-point fourth-quarter lead before holding on for a 17-10 victory over the Oakland Raiders. Safeties Greg Wesley and Jerome Woods preserved the win by tackling receiver Tim Brown at the Kansas City 1 as time expired.

Priest Holmes again carried the offensive load against the Raiders. The NFL's reigning Offensive Player of the Year rushed for 123 yards and a touchdown and added four catches for 50 yards.

Holmes is third in the NFL in rushing with 687 yards and nine touchdowns. He also has 31 catches for 307 yards and leads the NFL in yards from scrimmage with 994.

Holmes should provide a test for the Bills' revamped defense that ranks third in the NFL in scoring defense at 15.7 points per game.

The Bills finally got their running game going in last Sunday's 24-7 victory over the Washington Redskins. Entering the game last in the NFL in rushing offense, the Bills relied on Travis Henry, who carried 31 times for a career-high 167 yards and two touchdowns.

Drew Bledsoe also was effective in the win over the Redskins, completing 19-of-26 passes for 244 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

Bledsoe hopes to have star receiver Eric Moulds back for this contest. Moulds has missed the last two games with a groin injury.

This is the second straight season that the teams are meeting here, with Kansas City posting a narrow 17-16 win last November 17.

Quarterback Trent Green lifted the Chiefs to the win by running nine yards for a touchdown with 4:53 remaining in the fourth quarter. He also completed 12-of-20 passes for 197 yards.

Holmes also was big, carrying 31 times for 104 yards and a touchdown. He ran for 50 yards on the Chiefs' final drive after cornerback Eric Warfield secured the win by picking off Bledsoe at the Kansas City 2 with 4:26 left.

Buffalo leads the series, 20-16-1.
