NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) -- The streaks are dead for the Tennessee Titans.

Al Del Greco missed a crucial extra point with 2:30 to play and a 43-yard field goal at the gun as the Titans had their eight-game winning streak snapped and lost for the first time at Adelphia Coliseum, 24-23 to the Baltimore Ravens.

Tennessee had won its first 13 games at the new facility, including last season's memorable AFC wild card game against Buffalo. The Titans appeared poised for another memorable home triumph when safety Perry Phenix returned an interception 87 yards for a score to snap a 17-17 tie with 2 1/2 minutes remaining.

But Del Greco missed his first extra-point attempt since November 7, 1993 and the Ravens (7-4) went back on the attack.

Trent Dilfer orchestrated a nine-play, 70-yard march that culminated with his two-yard touchdown pass to Patrick Johnson with 25 seconds left. Matt Stover made the extra point for a 24-23 lead.

"I think this win stands from more than just beating a good team at their place," Dilfer said. "It's overcoming a lot and it's (overcoming) throwing the game away when you've got it won and bouncing back to throw a touchdown. It's guys believing in each other."

In their worst hole at home since the well-chronicled "Home Run Throwback" kick return saved them against the Bills last January, the Titans (8-2) nearly pulled off another miracle finish.

After Chris Coleman returned Stover's squibbed kickoff to the Tennessee 44, Steve McNair hit running back Eddie George with an 11-yard pass to the Baltimore 45 and scrambled for 17 more yards to set up Del Greco's kick.

But the 17-year veteran, who beat the Pittsburgh Steelers as time expired here last week to keep both streaks alive, pushed his kick wide right as the Ravens celebrated.

Dilfer led Baltimore to its second straight road win, completing 23-of-36 passes for 281 yards. He opened the scoring with a 46-yard touchdown pass to Quadry Ismail just over five minutes into play.

Jamal Lewis rushed for 99 yards on 23 carries and gave the Ravens a 14-0 lead on a two-yard run with 12:26 remaining in the second quarter.

Undaunted, the Titans struck right back. McNair, who was 21-of-34 for 228 yards, hooked up with Derrick Mason four times for 58 yards, including a 10-yard TD toss with 8:10 left in the first half to cut the deficit to 14-7.

Stover's 45-yard field goal opened a 10-point cushion but McNair hit Chris Sanders for 38 yards and hit fullback Lorenzo Neal with a four-yard TD pass that shaved the deficit to 17-14 with just three seconds left in the first half.

The Titans got even in the fourth quarter. On 3rd-and-10, McNair found tight end Frank Wycheck for 26 yards to the Baltimore 38. A 13-yard completion to Mason and a seven-yard pass to Wycheck set up Del Greco's tying 23-yard field goal with 8:30 to play.

Baltimore appeared to steal the momentum when McNair fumbled and defensive end Rob Burnett pounced on the ball at the Titans 22 with 4:07 left.

After two short runs by Lewis, Dilfer dropped back on 3rd-and-7 and fired a pass into the left flank for Johnson that Phenix stepped in front of for his first career interception. Phenix dodged a pair of potential tacklers and cruised down the right sideline for the go-ahead score with 2:30 to go.

But after converting 254 consecutive extra points, Del Greco misfired to leave the Titans with an ominous six-point lead.

Dilfer used a 36-yard pass to tight end Shannon Sharpe to bring the Ravens back to life on their ensuing drive. A 19-yard interference call on safety Dainon Sidney on 4th-and-2 moved the ball to the Tennessee 2 and Dilfer found Johnson in the end zone three plays later.

Sharpe caught eight passes for 92 yards as the Ravens avenged a 14-6 home loss to the Titans three weeks ago.
