Preview | Recap | Boxscore

BALTIMORE (Ticker) -- The Baltimore Ravens already are in the playoffs. The New York Jets could assure themselves of joining them with a victory today.

The Jets can clinch their second postseason berth in three seasons with a win against the Ravens or with losses or ties by Indianapolis against Minnesota and Pittsburgh against San Diego.

New York could also win the AFC East title with a victory in this contest and if Miami loses at New England.

The Ravens are in the playoffs for the first time in club history and already have assured themselves of at least one home game. Baltimore could also win the AFC Central title and gain home-field advantage with a win here and if the Dallas Cowboys upset the Tennessee Titans on Monday night.

It is likely to be a historic afternoon for the Ravens, who have yielded just 145 points and are on the verge of breaking the 1986 Chicago Bears' record of 187 for fewest points allowed in a 16-game season.

Vinny Testaverde, who has thrown an NFL-high 22 interceptions, will throw against Ravens cornerbacks Duane Starks and Chris McAlister and safety Rod Woodson.

Last Sunday, the Jets squandered a chance to wrap up a playoff berth by suffering a 10-7 loss at home to the Detroit Lions. John Hall missed a 35-yard field goal attempt with nine seconds left to send the Jets to their second straight loss.

The Jets signed kicker Brett Conway this week and will use him in today's game at Baltimore. Conway also has kicked for Washington and Oakland this season, converting all four of his field goals.

The Jets will be without starting inside linebacker Bryan Cox the rest of the way due to a broken right leg. Cox suffered the injury in the loss to Detroit and will be replaced by veteran Dwayne Gordon.

Baltimore has a club-record six-game winning streak, including a 13-7 victory at Arizona. Rookie Jamal Lewis rushed for 126 yards and a touchdown and Baltimore forced three turnovers.

Quarterback Trent Dilfer, who is 6-1 since taking over as the starter for Tony Banks, struggled against the Cardinals and completed just 12-of-22 passes for just 70 yards and one interception.

Baltimore posted a 24-10 victory over the Jets in 1998, evening the all-time series at one win apiece.
