Cal St. Sacramento Hornets defeated by Oregon St. Beavers 7-40

CORVALLIS, Oregon (Ticker) -- Derek Anderson threw two touchdowns and Steven Jackson ran for two more as Oregon State rolled to a 40-7 victory over Sacramento State in the season opener for both teams.

Anderson completed 17-of-35 passes for 273 yards as the Beavers rolled up 527 yards of total offense. His favorite target was Mike Hass, who caught six passes for 129 yards in place of the injured James Newson.

Jackson ran for 129 yards on 23 carries and caught four passes for 58 yards. He made it 10-0 with a one-yard run early in the second quarter and opened the second half with a six-yard score.

Anderson threw a 32-yard touchdown pass to Hass and connected with Tim Euhus on an 11-yard TD as Oregon State (1-0) raced to a 34-0 lead.

The Hornets finally scored on quarterback Blake Mori's two-yard touchdown run with 6:21 remaining in the game.

Sacramento State (0-1) starter Ryan Leadingham completed just 9-of-23 passes for 146 yards before leaving.
