LINCOLN, Nebraska (Ticker) -- Joe Dailey threw for a school-record 342 yards and five touchdowns as Nebraska bounced back from its worst loss in school history to post a 59-27 victory over Big 12 Conference foe Baylor.

Nebraska (4-2, 2-1 Big 12 North) were dominated at Texas Tech last week, 70-10, but had few problems in this one.

The Bears (2-4, 0-3 South), who have lost three in a row, took a 3-0 lead on a 29-yard field goal by Kenny Webb midway through the first quarter. But the Cornhuskers found the end zone on four of their next six possessions to post a 31-3 lead at the half.

Dailey connected with Steve Kriewald on an 18-yard scoring strike late in the first quarter and matched a career high with a 74-yard touchdown pass to Cory Ross with 5:56 left in the half.

The sophomore signal-caller tossed a 27-yard pass to Isaiah Fluellen 3 1/2 minutes later and sophomore defensive end Jay Moore recovered a Baylor fumble on the ensuing drive. On the next play from scrimmage, Dailey hooked up with Fluellen on another touchdown, this time from 45 yards out, to cap the scoring in the first half.

Dailey, who matched the school record for touchdown passes in a game, was 13-of-20 in the contest and did not throw an interception. The previous school mark for passing yards in a game was 297 by Dave Humm vs. Wisconsin on September 29, 1973.

Brandon Jackson rushed 18 times for 89 yards and a pair of scores in the second half and Ross added a seven-yard touchdown run in the fourth to finish the scoring for the Huskers. Ross had 128 yards of total offense.

Paul Mosley opened the second half with a one-yard touchdown run and Dane King threw for a pair of scores in the third quarter to reduce the deficit to 38-24.

King was 23-of-38 for 281 yards and threw just one interception for the Bears, who have been outscored by 133-51 while losing their first three conference games.
