Boise State Broncos beat Fresno State Bulldogs 31-17 Friday, Nov. 21, 2003 Preview | Boxscore FRESNO, California (Ticker) -- Ryan Dinwiddie threw two touchdown passes and ran for another as Boise State clinched a share of the Western Athletic Conference title with a 31-17 victory over Fresno State. Dinwiddie completed 22-of-31 passes for 273 yards and one interception, just his third of the season. Tim Gilligan caught six passes for 149 yards and a TD as Boise St. (10-1, 6-0 WAC) won its 16th consecutive conference game. The Broncos have not dropped a WAC contest since a 48-42 loss to Louisiana Tech in November 2001. Paul Pinegar was 28-of-51 for 290 yards for the Bulldogs (7-5, 5-2). Pinegar's only touchdown pass, a 18-yard strike to Marque Davis, cut the deficit to 21-7 with 5:59 left in the second quarter. Davis had eight catches for 97 yards. Bernard Berrian led the Bulldogs with 13 catches for 122 yards. Fresno State rushed for 311 yards in last week's 41-7 rout of San Jose State but was held to just 48 yards on 30 carries. Dwayne Wright ran for 106 yards in the previous game but was held to 45 on 16 carries. The Broncos' leading rusher, David Mikell, was held to minus-2 yards on two carries before leaving the game with a slight concussion. Donny Heck led Boise State with 40 yards on 11 carries. Boise State led 28-10 at halftime and scored the only points of the third period on a 47-yard field goal by Tyler Jones with 31 seconds left. Berrian made things interesting in the fourth when he returned a punt 68 yards for a TD with 8:28 remaining.
