South Carolina Gamecocks lose to Arkansas Razorbacks 6-28 Thursday, Nov. 6, 2003 Boxscore LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas (Ticker) -- Matt Jones and Arkansas look like they were coming off a seven-overtime game. Jones completed 11-of-14 passes for 148 yards and three touchdowns as the Razorbacks cruised to a 28-6 victory over Southeastern Conference rival South Carolina, their 16th consecutive win in Little Rock. DeCori Birmingham had a career-high 51-yard touchdown run for Arkansas (6-3, 3-3 SEC West), which posted a wild 71-63 triumph at Kentucky on Saturday. The Razorbacks also won the only other seven-overtime contest in NCAA history, a 58-56 victory at Mississippi two years ago. Birmingham's TD put Arkansas ahead for good, 7-3, midway through the first quarter, and the Razorbacks extended the lead in the final minute of the first half on a one-yard toss from Jones to tight end Jason Peters. Jones' 36-yard strike to Richard Smith opened a 21-3 cushion six minutes into the third quarter and his nine-yard pass to George Wilson capped the scoring with 8:45 remaining. Dondrial Pinkins went 21-of-36 for 181 yards and two interceptions for South Carolina (5-5, 2-5 West), which committed four turnovers - two inside the 20-yard line - after having eight in its first nine contests. South Carolina freshman running back Demetris Summers was carted off the field after a collision on the second-half kickoff. He was taken to a local hospital, where X-rays were negative. Gamecocks coach Lou Holtz went 60-21-2 at Arkansas from 1977-83. Razorbacks coach Houston Nutt played for Holtz and served as a graduate assistant coach under him.
