CHARLOTTESVILLE, Virginia (Ticker) -- Matt Schaub's final home game was a sweet one.

Schaub completed 32-of-46 passes for 358 yards and a pair of touchdowns as Virginia snapped a four-game losing streak against intrastate rival Virginia Tech with a 35-21 triumph over the No. 20 Hokies.

Wali Lundy ran for three touchdowns and caught another for the Cavaliers (7-5), who had lost four of their previous six games overall.

The game was tied, 14-14, midway through the third quarter when the Hokies' Eric Green blocked a punt and returned it for a touchdown, but Virginia Tech was whistled for an offsides penalty on the 4th-and-4 play. Given new life, Schaub completed a 49-yard touchdown to Alvin Pearman to give Virginia the lead for good with 4:26 left in the quarter.

"As usual, we couldn't have done it without him," Virginia coach Al Groh said of Schaub. "He made some big time throws. This guy has real moxie. The throw to Pearman, the game is on the line at that point. If we don't make it, we're going to punt the ball. He puts it right there. I thought he was magnificent."

The touchdown pass was the 55th of Schaub's career, tying the mark set by Shawn Moore from 1987-89. Schaub owns every other substantial career mark at the school.

Lundy made it 28-14 with a one-yard run on the first play of the fourth quarter before Kevin Jones answered with a two-yard score with 6:59 left. But one play after Schaub completed a pass to tight end Heath Miller for a first down on a fake field goal, Lundy scored on a 19-yard scamper to ice the game with 2:29 left.

Bryan Randall completed 14-of-26 passes for 214 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions for the Hokies (8-4), who lost four of their final six regular season games.

"It is disappointing," Hokies coach Frank Beamer said. "We've played some great football and there have been some great moments. I think we're going to a bowl. I want to get this team back on the field and get us out of the funk we're in."

Virginia Tech took its only lead, 14-7, on a 43-yard pass from Randall to Mike Imoh midway through the second quarter.

The Cavaliers evened the contest on a one-yard pass from Schaub to Lundy with 9:24 left in the third quarter.

Lundy had 24 carries for 89 yards and Miller had 13 catches for 145 yards, both career highs.

"This was a fantastic performance by Heath Miller today," Groh said. "Any statement I would make would be secondary to the players' nickname for him. You can probably understand why the players call him 'Big Money.'"

Jones, a junior Heisman Trophy candidate who may declare for the NFL draft after the season, had 25 carries for 75 yards.
