IOWA CITY, Iowa (Ticker) -- The battle for "Floyd of Rosedale" turned into a pig-out for Iowa.

Nate Kaeding tied a school record with four field goals in his final home game as the 20th-ranked Hawkeyes routed No. 17 Minnesota, 40-22, holding the top offense in the Big Ten Conference without a touchdown until late in the fourth quarter.

Seniors were responsible for 34 points for the Hawkeyes (8-3, 4-3), who posted their 12th straight victory at Kinnick Stadium. Kaeding, Iowa's all-time leading scorer, tied a career high with a 55-yard field goal on the final play of the first half.

"The seniors had a great leadership, but they are not done yet," Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz said. "They did a great job today and they have really pulled together the last four years."

Minnesota scored a pair of touchdowns in the final five minutes after Iowa had built a 40-6 cushion. The Golden Gophers lost leading rusher Marion Barber III, who suffered a pulled groin in the first half.

"Actually, it could have been worse if our defense hadn't held them at some key times," Minnesota coach Glen Mason said. "We started off bad and gave them good field position. After that, it seemed like we were our own worst enemy."

Nathan Chandler, who completed 17-of-28 passes for 210 yards, scored on a two-yard touchdown in the second quarter and tossed a six-yard TD pass in the third period to Ramon Ochoa. Fullback Edgar Cervantes, another senior, capped Iowa's scoring with a one-yard TD run early in the fourth period.

The only non-senior to score for Iowa was Jermelle Lewis, who scampered 34 yards for a TD to give the Hawkeyes a 17-6 lead with with 3:40 left in the first half.

The Hawkeyes held on to "Floyd of Rosedale," a bronze pig, with their third straight win over the Golden Gophers (9-3, 5-3). Iowa scored on all six trips inside the red zone, registering three touchdowns and three field goals.

"Today was representative of how this team is now," Ferentz said. "We played offensively, defensively and the special teams played like our special teams."

Minnesota turned the ball over five times, including an interception on the final play of the game, in its final regular season contest and failed to reach 10 wins for the first time since 1905.

The Golden Gophers had their chances in the first half, but fumbled twice inside the Hawkeyes' 15-yard line. Late in the first half, Laurence Maroney fumbled at the Iowa 2 after Asad Abdul-Khaliq's 66-yard completion to Jared Ellerson.

After Kaeding kicked field goals of 33 and 38 yards in the first five minutes of the third quarter, Jovon Johnson's interception set up Chandler's TD pass to Ochoa that made it 33-6.

Abdul-Khaliq completed 28-of-46 passes for 388 yards but a large chunk of it came after the contest was out of reach.
