Brandon Horn caught a 41-yard touchdown pass that was deflected by two defenders for the go-ahead score as Northwestern rallied for 17 points in the fourth quarter to post a 17-7 Big Ten Conference victory over the hapless Nittany Lions. Horn's score snapped a 7-7 tie with 4:50 remaining and came just under two minutes after the Wildcats (5-5, 3-3) tied it on Jason Wright's six-yard TD run. Brain Huffman added a 27-yard field goal with 55 seconds remaining as Northwestern kept alive its bowl hopes. Penn State (2-8, 0-6) suffered its sixth straight loss, the Nitany Lions' longest slide since 1931 when they finished 2-8. Penn State needs to win its final two games to avoid setting a school record for losses. In a game played in snowy conditions, Zack Mills' one-yard TD with 13:29 remaining in the second period held up until the fourth quarter. Northwestern tied it after holder Eric Batis picked up a first down with a 13-yard gain on a fake field goal. Wright scored on the next play. Noah Herron rushed for a career-high 180 yards on 35 carries for the Wildcats. Brett Basenez completed 13-of-21 for 188 yards with an interception for Northwestern. Mills completed 22-of-36 for 230 yards for the Nittany Lions, who were held to just 93 yards rushing. David Kimball missed field goals of 27 of 34 yards in the first half. Sean McHugh led Penn State on the ground with 79 yards on 10 carries.
