ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico (Ticker) -- After spearheading a comeback, Bradlee Van Pelt gave away the game.

Van Pelt's fumble in the final minute set up a 33-yard field goal by Wes Zunker as time expired as New Mexico posted a 37-34 victory over Colorado State in a Mountain West Conference matchup.

Van Pelt passed for a touchdown and ran for a score in the fourth quarter, rallying the Rams (5-5, 2-3 Mountain West) from a 34-20 deficit. His one-yard keeper with 3:07 left tied it.

But with a chance to engineer a game-winning drive, Van Pelt made the game's biggest mistake.

Working from the shotgun, Van Pelt mishandled a snap from center Mark Dreyer and nose tackle Kyle Coulter recovered for the Lobos at the Rams' 17-yard line with 57 seconds left.

Two plays later, Zunker converted the winning kick for New Mexico (6-4, 3-2), which buoyed its chances of garnering a bowl bid.

The miscue overshadowed a big night by Van Pelt. The senior completed 16-of-24 passes for 217 yards and a touchdown while rushing 25 times for 148 yards and two scores.

DonTrell Moore had an even bigger night for the Lobos, carrying 34 times for 242 yards and three TDs. All three scores came in the first half, when the Lobos built a 24-14 lead.
