DURHAM, North Carolina (Ticker) -- North Carolina State's Philip Rivers owns yet another Atlantic Coast Conference record.

Rivers threw three touchdown passes, all to Tramain Hall, to break Chris Weinke's ACC mark for career touchdowns as the Wolfpack spoiled Ted Roof's debut as Duke coach with a 28-21 victory.

The senior quarterback has thrown 92 TDs, surpassing Weinke's mark of 89 set at Florida State from 1997-00. Rivers already holds ACC marks for total offense, passing yards, completions, attempts and 300-yard games.

Rivers, who completed 23-of-31 passes for 369 yards, tossed TD strikes of 33 and 17 yards to Hall in the first half, giving the Wolfpack (6-3, 3-2 ACC) a 14-10 halftime lead.

Rivers and Hall combined again for a 57-yard score in the third quarter to make it 21-10. North Carolina State made it 28-10 on Jay Davis' one-yard run with 8:59 left in the contest.

Duke made it close on seldom-used Chris Dapolito's 16-yard TD pass to Reggie Love and Brent Garber's 43-yard field goal in the final 4 1/2 minutes.

Duke (2-6, 0-5), which got off to a 2-1 start this season, suffered its 30th consecutive ACC loss.

Roof, the Blue Devils' defensive coordinator the past two years, was named interim coach after Carl Franks was fired on Sunday.

Adam Smith completed just 9-of-17 passes for 103 yards for the Blue Devils. Chris Douglas rushed for 125 yards on 25 carries for Duke.
