Tulane Greenwave topped by Louisville Cardinals 28-47 Friday, Oct. 17, 2003 Boxscore LOUISVILLE, Kentucky (Ticker) -- J.P Losman and Mewelde Moore may put up big numbers for Tulane, but Eric Shelton and Louisville stole the show. Shelton rushed for 128 yards and three touchdowns as Louisville remained unbeaten at home with a 47-28 Conference USA victory over Tulane. The Cardinals (6-1, 2-1 C-USA) improved to 4-0 at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium, where their average victory margin is 20 points. They have won 17 of their last 20 home games. Tulane (3-4, 1-3) entered with a high-powered offense that features Losman, who had 19 touchdown passes in his first six games, and Moore, Conference USA's leading rusher. But the Green Wave never recovered from a 21-0 deficit. Shelton capped a six-play, 84-yard drive with his first touchdown, an eight-yarder midway through the opening quarter. Michael Bush added a 14-yard TD to start the second quarter and Shelton's 11-yard run around the right side made it 21-0 with 11:28 to go before halftime. Losman pulled the Green Wave within 27-14 in the third quarter with a 27-yard touchdown pass to Roydell Williams. Louisville answered with another TD by Shelton, who ran 14 yards, before safety Kerry Rhodes returned an interception 33 yards for a 41-14 advantage early in the final period. Louisville's Stefan LeFors completed 16-of-27 passes for 188 yards. Losman was 16-of-29 for 243 yards and three touchdowns - his fifth game with at least three TDs. Moore carried 26 times for 123 yards and a score. Tulane has lost three straight, surrendering an average of nearly 52 points during the skid.
