PROVO, Utah (Ticker) -- Bradlee Van Pelt and Colorado State added to Brigham Young's home woes.

Van Pelt threw for 192 yards and three touchdowns as the Rams built a huge lead and ruined homecoming for the Cougars with a 58-13 Mountain West Conference rout.

Colorado State (4-3, 1-1 MWC) won its second straight game and improved to 2-0 on the road. The Rams built a 21-3 lead after one quarter and went on to become the first visiting team to score more than 50 points in Provo.

Brigham Young (3-4, 2-2) lost at home to Colorado State for the first time since 1994. The Cougars have dropped three straight home games for the first time since 1993.

It was Colorado State's highest output since a 61-19 season-opening victory over Tennessee-Chattanooga in 1996. The Rams had not scored this many points on the road since a 59-17 triumph at Utah State the year before.

Van Pelt opened the scoring with a 39-yard touchdown pass to Eric Hill and Marcus Houston's four-yard run made it 14-0 with 7:12 left in the opening period. Van Pelt also found tight end Matt Bartz wide open on the left sideline for a 60-yard touchdown and a 21-3 advantage with 2:15 remaining.

Van Pelt completed just 8-of-11 passes.

BYU's John Beck was 10-of-23 for 136 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

The home team had won the previous four meetings.
