Colorado Buffaloes topped by Baylor Bears 30-42 Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003 Boxscore WACO, Texas (Ticker) -- Rashad Armstrong helped give first-year coach Guy Morriss his first big win at Baylor. Armstrong rushed for 166 yards and two touchdowns on 37 carries as the Bears rallied to defeat slumping Colorado, 42-30, in the Big 12 Conference opener for both teams. Armstrong put Baylor (3-1, 1-0 Big 12 South) ahead for good, 28-23, on a three-yard TD run with 5:34 left in the third quarter, then clinched the win with a 55-yard TD scamper with 9:36 to go. Colorado (2-3, 0-1 Big 12 North), which suffered its third straight loss, pulled within 35-30 on Erik Greenberg's 29-yard TD pass to Derek McCoy with 1:11 left in the third. Baylor recorded only its second Big 12 win since 1999 - the other came against Kansas last season - and snapped a five-game losing streak against Colorado. The Bears have matched their win total in each of the last two seasons. Colorado has dropped three in a row for the first time since opening the 2000 season with a four-game slide. Aaron Karas completed 18-of-28 passes for 207 yards and three touchdowns for the Bears, who also rushed for 203 yards. Greenberg completed 16-of-29 passes for 346 yards and two touchdowns, but the Buffaloes were held to just 57 yards on the ground. Colorado opened a 23-14 lead on Brian Calhoun's three-yard TD scamper with 12:02 left in the third quarter. Baylor closed to 23-21 just over three minutes later on Karas' eight-yard TD strike to Jammal Harper. Baylor beat Colorado for the first time since 1991, cutting the Buffaloes' lead in the all-time series to 8-5.
