MEMPHIS, Tennessee (Ticker) -- Darnell Hackney threw for 231 yards and two touchdowns as Alabama-Birmingham posted a 24-10 Conference USA victory over Memphis.

Making his 13th career start, Hackney recorded his fourth 200-yard game of the season, completing 14-of-28 passes.

Hackney directed three scoring drives in the second quarter as the Blazers (2-3, 1-1) bolted to a 17-0 lead at halftime. Nick Hayes opened the scoring with a 43-yard field goal nine seconds into the quarter and just over five minutes later Hackney connected with Cedric Hampton on a two-yard TD.

Trey Chaney, who had 60 of his 81 yards in the first half, made it 17-0 with a nine-yard TD with 7:59 left in the half.

After totaling just 80 yards in the first half, Memphis' offense came alive. Danny Wimprine completed all 12 of his attempts in the third quarter, including a 23-yard TD strike to Maurice Avery with 11:36 remaining.

Stephen Gostkowski's 26-yard field goal sliced the Tigers' deficit to 17-10. But Memphis (3-2, 0-2) allowed Hackney's 57-yard TD pass to Nick Coon midway through the fourth and lost two fumbles, ending any hopes of a comeback.

Wimprine was 23-of-42 for 257 yards.
