Temple Owls down to Louisville Cardinals 12-21 Saturday, Sep. 27, 2003 Boxscore LOUISVILLE, Kentucky (Ticker) -- Stefan LeFors threw a pair touchdown passes in the first quarter as Louisville improved to 4-0 for the first time since 1993 with a 21-12 victory over winless Temple. Making his fourth start, LeFors hooked up with J.R. Russell for a 55-yard score less than two minutes into the contest. He then directed a 14-play, 80-yard drive which culminated in a seven-yard TD to tight end Richard Owens with 4:44 remaining. A few plays before connecting with Owens, LeFors suffered a concussion after taking a hard hit from Temple safety Sadeke Konte. He completed 5-of-7 passes for 100 yards before Justin Rascati took over and threw a 23-yard TD to Ronnie Ghent with six seconds remaining in the first half. Rascati completed 8-of-16 passes for 97 yards, but overcame a pair of interceptions as Louisville posted its first victory in four tries over Temple. Bobby Petrino joined Tom King (1925) as the only Louisville coaches to start their first season at the school with four wins. Facing Louisville for the first time since 1983, the Owls avoided the shutout when backup Wal Washington threw a 26-yard TD to Phil Goodman as time expired in the third quarter. But Jared Davis' extra point attempt was blocked. Starter Mike McGann completed 24-of-45 passes for 304 yards. He threw a 33-yard TD to Zamir Cobb midway through the fourth, but was sacked five times. Despite totaling 415 yards, the Owls (0-4) fell to 7-18 in non-conference games under coach Bobby Wallace.
