CHESTNUT HILL, Massachusetts (Ticker) -- Derrick Knight rushed for 175 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries as Boston College rebounded from a loss to Miami with a 53-29 victory over Ball State.

Knight surpassed the century mark for the fourth time in five games this season. He was held to 83 yards in last week's 33-14 setback to the Hurricanes.

Quinton Porter completed 17-of-25 passes for 131 yards and three touchdowns for the Eagles (3-2), who posted their highest point total since a 55-17 win over Army on September 9, 2000.

Boston College took the lead for good, 14-7, when Grant Adams recovered a blocked punt in the end zone for a touchdown with 14 seconds left in the first quarter.

The Eagles increased their lead to 28-10 on Knight's 42-yard scamper and Horace Dodd's three-yard TD run.

Ball State (2-3) closed to 28-23 early in the third period as Talmadge Hill threw TD pass of 44 and seven yards to Dante Ridgeway.

But Porter responded with a pair of short TD tosses to Sean Ryan as the Eagles built a 46-23 cushion with 13 1/2 minutes left in the contest.

Hill completed 14-of-30 passes for 195 yards for the Cardinals. Ridgeway had six receptions for 95 yards.
