MEMPHIS, Tennessee (Ticker) -- Danny Wimprine threw for 355 yards and three touchdown passes as Memphis scored 23 unanswered points in the fourth quarter and posted a 44-34 victory over Mississippi.

The Tigers (2-0) overcame four TD passes from Mississippi's Eli Manning to defeat the Rebels for the first time since 1994.

Manning broke the school record for career TDs held by his father, Archie Manning, when he hooked up with Taye Biddle for a 17-yard score that gave the Rebels (1-1) a 17-14 lead with 2:05 remaining in the first half.

After Winmprine found Maurice Avery for a 31-yard TD with nine seconds remaining in the first half, Manning directed three scoring drives that gave Mississippi a 34-21 advantage with 90 seconds remaining in the third.

However, after Jonathan Nichols' second field goal of the day, Memphis dominated the fourth quarter, scoring on five straight possessions. The Tigers took the lead for good when Wimprine connected with Tavariou Davis on a 92-yard TD strike with 6:12 remaining.

Manning was 26-of-48 for 292 yards, but threw two costly interceptions that thwarted any comeback opportunities and led to a pair of field goals by Stephen Gostkowski.

Wimprine completed 18-of-32 passes, DeAng Williams gained 135 yards on 28 carries and Davis had three catches for 113 yards.
