SAN FRANCISCO (Ticker) -- Boston College tries to win a bowl game for a fourth straight year for the first time in school history when it takes on Colorado State in the San Francisco Bowl at Pacific Bell Park.

The Eagles (7-5), who have won at least seven games for a school-record five straight seasons, won the Aloha Bowl in 2000, the Music City Bowl in 2001 and the Motor City Bowl last year. They are 8-6 all time in bowls and will be meeting the Rams for the first time.

Boston College, which went 4-4 in Big East Conference play, split its first 10 games before ending the season with back-to-back road wins over Rutgers and Virginia Tech.

In the Eagles' 34-27 triumph over the Hokies, Derrick Knight became the program's all-time leading rusher. This season, he has rushed for 1,599 yards - 133.2 per contest - and eight touchdowns.

The Rams (7-5) concluded their regular season on a four-game road trip, dropping the first two contests before winning at San Diego State and UNLV.

Colorado State earned the bowl trip, its fifth in a row and eighth since 1994 under coach Sonny Lubick, with a 24-23 comeback win over the Running' Rebels. Backup quarterback Justin Holland replaced the injured Bradlee Van Pelt and threw a three-year touchdown to running back Joel Dressen with 53 seconds left.

Van Pelt suffered a broken bone in his hand, but plans to play in the bowl game.

The Rams lost to Texas Christian, 17-3, in the 2002 Liberty Bowl.
