Purdue Boilermakers at Indiana Hoosiers

Recap | Boxscore

BLOOMINGTON, Indiana (Ticker) -- No. 16 Purdue seeks its sixth victory in seven tries against Indiana when they battle for the "Old Oaken Bucket" on Saturday at Memorial Stadium.

The Boilermakers (8-3, 5-2 Big Ten Conference) lead the all-time series against the Hoosiers, 64-35-6, but lost when they played here two years ago, 13-7.

With a win, Purdue would clinch a tie for second place in the Big Ten Conference with the loser of Saturday's battle between No. 4 Ohio State and No. 5 Michigan in Ann Arbor. But since the Boilermakers lost to both teams, they would get the Big Ten's third-best bowl slot, likely the Outback Bowl but possibly the Capital One Bowl.

Last week, Purdue narrowly lost at Ohio State, 16-13 in overtime. The game ended when Ben Jones' 37-yard field goal attempt went wide left. Jones also missed a 28-yard field goal in the third quarter.

Kyle Orton went 27-of-47 for 249 yards in the setback.

Indiana (2-9, 1-6) was routed at Penn State here last week, 52-7.

BenJarvus Green-Ellis had 42 carries for 203 yards for the Hoosiers, who gave up 31 points, including two defensive touchdowns, in the third quarter.
