Oregon Ducks at Utah Utes

SALT LAKE CITY (Ticker) -- Oregon will have a short week, which is just fine with coach Mike Bellotti.

No. 22 Oregon turned the ball over nine times in a 55-16 loss to Washington State and will be back on the field six days later when it visits Utah on Friday night.

"In 32 years, I've never played in a short week," Bellotti said. "I do think in this case it's the best thing for us."

Oregon recorded one of the biggest wins in school history two weeks ago, but came out flat ansd disorganized against Washington State and trailed 38-2 at halftime. The Ducks endured their worst loss since a 54-0 setback to Washington on October 8, 1977.

"I told them after the game that we are going to toss this game where it belongs, in the garbage," Bellotti said. "We probably won't wash it. We'll flush it and move on."

Kellen Clemens and Jason Fife combined to throw seven interceptions. Oregon did not throw one in its first four games.

One of the few bright spots was Demetruis Williams, who had seven catches for 175 yards and a touchdown. Williams is expected to play this week with a sore knee.

Utah (3-1), however, is no pushover. Earlier this season, the Utes defeated California, who went on to shock Southern California on Saturday.

Last week, Arnold Parker returned a fumble 80 yards for a touchdown with 1:33 left as Utah stunned Colorado State, 28-21.

Brandon Warfield of Utah ranks fifth nationally with 131.5 yards per game and has eight touchdowns.

Oregon has won the last three games with Utah, including a 24-10 decision in the last meeting in 2001.
