LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- For the Los Angeles Clippers, a win over the San Antonio Spurs is almost as rare as Tim Duncan getting suspended.

With Duncan serving a one-game suspension, the Spurs suffered a 91-83 loss to the Clippers, who got 24 points from Corey Maggette and a big effort from their bench.

Last season, Duncan averaged 26.3 points in four games vs. the Clippers, who came in with just three wins in 20 meetings against the Spurs since Duncan entered the NBA as the top overall pick in the 1997 draft.

The Spurs learned before the game that Duncan would be suspended for the first time. The two-time NBA MVP sat out for making contact with referee Jack Nies and pushing him to the floor in the third quarter of Saturday's loss at Golden State.

Without having to face Duncan, the Clippers snapped a six-game losing streak and turned in their finest defensive showing of the season. They were in control most of the night and sealed the win by making 15-of-18 foul shots in the final 3 1/2 minutes.

Maggette made 8-of-14 shots and went 8-of-10 from the line. Rookie Chris Kaman highlighted the big night by the reserves by collecting a career-high 15 points and 12 rebounds for his second double-double.

Malik Rose started in place of Duncan and led the Spurs with a season-high 26 points. But his teammates did little else as San Antonio shot 37 percent (31-of-84) and fell to 2-7 on the road.
