MIAMI (Ticker) -- Eddie Jones finally got some revenge against his old team.

After seven straight losses to the New Orleans Hornets, Jones scored 26 points to lead the Miami Heat to a 91-87 victory.

Jones helped ice the game with a pair of free throws with 15.4 seconds left, just over a minute after Lamar Odom put the Heat ahead for good, 87-85, with a 3-pointer.

"I love that time, taking the big shot and hitting it," Odom said. "It felt good. I was wide open and I just let it go."

P.J. Brown had given the Hornets an 85-84 lead with 2:26 left, but New Orleans did not score again until Baron Davis hit a long jumper with two seconds to go. Davis led the Hornets with 28 points and 10 assists.

"I love the way we closed them out," Jones said. "We went down one and kept fighting. ... I'm just happy to get a win, no matter who it's against."

The Heat needed a great defensive play down the stretch. With Miami leading, 87-85, and 18.9 seconds left, former Miami forward P.J. Brown came down the lane and tried for a tying layup, but Brian Grant got his hand on it.

"I thought I was fouled, but at that point in the game, they are not going to call it," Brown said. "It was a good play by the Heat."

Odom scored 19 points for the Heat, who got 12 apiece from rookie Udonis Haslem and Loren Woods.

"I thought our bench really helped us tonight," Miami coach Stan Van Gundy said. "Loren gave us a huge lift."

New Orleans did not get a similar lift from its bench, which totaled 13 points on 5-of-14 shooting. The Hornets shot 41 percent (33-of-80) from the field.

The Heat also snapped a three-game losing streak, shooting 49 percent (34-of-69).
