DALLAS (Ticker) -- Coach Don Nelson wondered how long it would take newcomers Antoine Walker and Tony Delk to get acclimated to the high-powered offense of the Dallas Mavericks. The answer is 2 1/2 games.

Walker and Delk combined for 24 points in the third quarter as the Mavericks ran away from the Utah Jazz, 127-102, to win their home opener.

Acquired eight days before the season opener in a trade with Boston, Walker and Delk did not have the benefit of any training camp with the Mavericks, who led the NBA in scoring last season.

Dallas began on the road, losing to the Lakers and rallying for a victory over Golden State. Although Walker averaged 19.5 points and 10.5 rebounds and Delk averaged 5.5 points, the Mavs have not had the fluid look they had last season, when they reached the Western Conference finals.

But Walker and Delk found their groove in the third quarter. Delk scored 14 of his 22 points and Walker 10 of his 16 as they fueled a 41-point period and turned a 56-44 halftime advantage into a 97-75 rout.
