Recap | Boxscore

LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Karl Malone will not get a chance to play against his former team on Sunday when the Los Angeles Lakers meet the Utah Jazz for the first time this season.

Malone is serving a one-game suspension for a vicious elbow on Dallas' Steve Nash in Thursday's 114-103 victory at Dallas. It will be only the 11th time the future Hall of Famer will miss a game in his 19-year career - he spent the first 18 seasons with Utah.

Los Angeles won its eighth straight and sports the league's best record at 16-3 after Thursday's victory. Shaquille O'Neal collected 25 points and 19 rebounds and Kobe Bryant poured in 32 points to lead the way.

The Lakers enter with a 25-game home winning streak in the regular season dating to 2002-03. Their last loss at home was a 117-110 defeat to New York on February 16, 2003.

Utah won for the fifth time in six games with Friday's 86-67 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers. Matt Harpring scored 20 points and DeShawn Stevenson and Raja Bell each added 12 points.

The Jazz are just 1-6 on the road.

Los Angeles won three of four against Utah last season and has won five straight at home in the series.
