OAKLAND, California (Ticker) -- A pair of teams seeking five-game winning streaks meet Wednesday night when the Denver Nuggets visit the Golden State Warriors in the opener of a home-and-home set.

The Nuggets haven't won five in a row since December 30, 2000- January 9, 2001. They have just six winning streaks of at least three games since that run and are off to their best 17-game start since the 1989-90 season.

Last season the Nuggets didn't reach 11 wins until February 2.

Denver has won eight of 10 overall and extended its winning streak with Tuesday's 115-103 home victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Rookie Carmelo Anthony scored 26 points and Nene had 21 and 13 rebounds. Anthony has led the team in scoring in three of the last four games, averaging 20.2 points on the streak.

Golden State is trying for its second five-game winning streak since the start of the 1995-96 season.

The Warriors improved to 7-3 at home with Saturday's 91-89 win over the San Antonio Spurs. Former Nugget Nick Van Exel scored 16 of his season-high 29 points in the fourth quarter.

The teams play at Denver on Friday and again on December 28.

Last season, Golden State swept the season series from Denver for the first time since 1991-92. The Warriors have won four 14 of the last 16 home meetings, including four straight.
