Recap | Boxscore

PHOENIX (Ticker) -- The Orlando Magic begin life under Johnny Davis and try to snap a 10-game losing streak when they visit the Phoenix Suns on Thursday at America West Arena.

The Magic won their opening contest at New York on October 29 but have not won since with the most recent defeat being a 90-88 loss at Utah on Monday. After the game, the team fired Doc Rivers and elevated assistant Davis to the post.

Tracy McGrady scored 29 points but missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer for Orlando, which limited Utah to 36 percent shooting but was outrebounded, 52-31. Juwan Howard added 21 points.

Davis went 22-60 as Philadelphia's coach in Allen Iverson's rookie season in 1996-97. He was signed to a two-year contract.

The Suns snapped a three-game losing streak with a 95-82 triumph over Chicago on Tuesday.

Amare Stoudemire contributed 21 points and 10 rebounds and Shawn Marion added 19 points for Phoenix, which improved to 1-1 on its four-game homestand despite missing all eight of its shots from the arc.

The Suns swept their two games against the Magic last season after losing the prior three meetings.
