EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey (Ticker) -- The New Jersey Nets can win consecutive home games for the first time this season on Tuesday when they host the New Orleans Hornets at Continental Airlines Arena.
The Nets were 66-16 at home in their first two seasons after acquiring star point guard Jason Kidd but have won just two of five games in the Meadowlands thus far.
New Jersey is trying for its first overall three-game winning streak of the season after rolling to a 100-85 road victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday.
Kenyon Martin had 23 points and 14 rebounds and Kidd added 21 and eight assists as the Nets won for the third time in their last four road games.
Center Alonzo Mourning scored 10 points in only 12 minutes, burying eight straight free throws in the second quarter as the Nets pulled away.
New Jersey is continuing to rest Kidd, who played a season-low 32 minutes after playing 36 on Friday.
New Orleans completed an unbeaten two-game homestand with a 101-79 rout of the Portland Trail Blazers on Saturday.
Baron Davis scored 23 points and Darrell Armstrong made 4-of-6 3-pointers en route to 20 points for the Hornets, who shot 50 percent (40-of-80) from the floor.
New Orleans continued its dominance from 3-point range, making 9-of-19 from the arc. It has 89 3-pointers on 226 attempts - leading the league in both categories. Former Net Davis Wesley is averaging 17.9 points, which is second on New Orleans. Another former Net, P.J. Brown, is averaging a team-best 8.5 rebounds.
The Nets and Hornets split four meetings last season, with each team winning once at home and once on the road. New Orleans won the final two meetings, including an 87-74 triumph here on April 14.
