NEW ORLEANS (Ticker) -- The New Orleans Hornets try to extend their home winning streak over the Portland Trail Blazers to five games on Saturday at New Orleans Arena.
The Hornets have won their last four home games against the Blazers since losing in Charlotte on February 26, 1999. They have won seven of the last eight overall meetings with Portland after sweeping the 2002-03 season series.
New Orleans rebounded from consecutive defeats with a 96-89 victory over the Utah Jazz on Wednesday.
Baron Davis had 23 points and nine assists and David Wesley added 17 points for the Hornets, who have won four of their first five home games this season.
Former Trail Blazer Steve Smith scored 15 points off the bench as New Orleans won for the sixth time in nine games - matching the second-best start in franchise history.
The Hornets made 12-of-24 3-pointers and lead the league with 80 3-pointers on 207 attempts. They have made 12 or more shots from the arc in four games this season.
Portland completed an unbeaten three-game homestand with a 112-110 overtime victory over the Sacramento Kings on Thursday.
Zach Randolph collected 28 points and 14 rebounds and Bonzi Wells added 27 and nine for the Trail Blazers, who rallied from a 24-point deficit to win for the fifth time in six home games.
Rasheed Wallace scored 16 points and Damon Stoudamire had 17, six rebounds and six assists as Portland shot 52 percent (47-of-90) from the floor and made 16-of-18 free throws.
The Trail Blazers' home success has been balanced by their struggles on the road. They have lost their first two road games by a combined 23 points.
