ST. PETERSBURG, Florida (Ticker) -- Rocco Baldelli and Carl Crawford are demonstrating why they are two of baseball's most exciting young players.
Baldelli snapped a seventh-inning tie with an RBI triple and Crawford added a pair of hits as the Tampa Bay Devil Rays rallied yet again for a 10-7 victory over the Baltimore Orioles.
Tampa Bay has one of the youngest teams in the game, including Baldelli, a rookie, and Crawford, who saw time in the second half of last season. Both players have hit safely in all nine games for the Devil Rays in 2003.
"I really can't remember starting with nine straight games (with a hit)," Baldelli said.
"They've got the two kids who can fly," Baltimore manager Mike Hargrove said. "It's a much better ballclub this year than it was last year."
With the game tied, 7-7, Rey Ordonez opened the seventh inning with an infield hit off Baltimore reliever Willis Roberts (0-1). After Crawford grounded out, Baldelli came through with a triple into the left-center field gap.
After B.J. Ryan relieved, Aubrey Huff added an RBI single for a 9-7 advantage. Crawford stroked an RBI single in the eighth inning for the game's final run.
"Another good come-from-behind win," Tampa Bay manager Lou Piniella said. "We came back at 'em. We're playing with some real nice intensity."
Tampa Bay, which rallied from a 4-0 deficit, got stellar work from its bullpen.
Alan Levine (1-0) tossed 2 2/3 hitless innings, Travis Harper surrendered a single in a scoreless eighth inning and Lance Carter worked a perfect ninth for his first save.
"For the most part, our bullpen has been pretty solid," Piniella said. "We've added a veteran, Levine will help us."
Levine was called up from Class AAA Durham before the game and made his debut for Tampa Bay.
"I had better control than I thought I would have," Levine said. "I'd rather get out there and throw the ball. I felt pretty comfortable."
Baltimore's Tony Batista homered twice for his 10th career multi-homer game. Batista had a two-run homer and Gary Matthews Jr. doubled in a pair of runs to give the Orioles a 4-0 lead in the second inning.
Marlon Anderson hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the inning and his sacrifice fly in the fourth inning tied the game. Jay Gibbons put Baltimore back on top with an RBI single in the fifth and Batista's two-run shot made it 7-4.
"If we score seven runs, with our pitching staff, we should win," Hargrove said. "The strength we feel coming out of spring training was our pitching staff and we still feel that way."
The Devil Rays scored three runs in the fifth inning to tie the game. Ordonez and Crawford began the inning with base hits and Baldelli singled in a run. Crawford and Baldelli used their hustle to move up a base on the throw home to try to get Ordonez. Huff followed with a double off Baltimore starter Rick Helling to tie the game.
"Our team speed is putting pressure on the other guys," Huff said. "The speed puts pressure on the defense and opens holes for us."
Helling allowed seven runs and seven hits in five innings.
"This is a game of results and the results weren't there," Helling said. "The guys got me two good leads and I didn't hold either one of them."
The Orioles blew their second straight game, failing to protect a 6-0 lead in Tuesday's loss.
The Devil Rays have won consecutive games for the first time this season.
