Recap | Boxscore

TORONTO (Ticker) -- Vernon Wells and Carlos Delgado conclude two of the most productive performances at the plate in team history as the Toronto Blue Jays host the Cleveland Indians in the season finale Sunday afternoon.

Wells has 215 hits this season and his single in the first inning of Saturday's 5-4 win broke Tony Fernandez's 1986 record for hits. Wells, who hit .277 with 25 homers and 114 RBI in his first two seasons, is batting .319 with 33 homers and 116 RBI this year.

Besides breaking Fernandez's record, Wells broke Jose Cruz Jr's team record for homers by a center fielder. Cruz had 31 in 2000.

Wells also leads the American League in hits and has not gone more than three consecutive games without a hit.

Delgado has 41 homers and a career-high 141 RBI to go along with a .301 batting average.

Cleveland is concluding its second straight losing season and has reached 90 losses for the first time since going 57-105 in 1991.

Josh Towers (7-1, 4.92 ERA) starts for the Blue Jays. Towers has won his last six decisions and is 6-1 with a 4.94 ERA in 10 appearances, including seven starts since the All-Star break.

The 25-year-old righthander last pitched in Tuesday's win over Tampa Bay. He did not get a decision after getting ejected for throwing behind Aubrey Huff in the fifth inning.

Cleveland's Cliff Lee (3-2, 3.10) gets the call for Cleveland. Lee faced Boston and Pedro Martinez last Sunday and allowed two runs and three hits in seven innings in a 2-0 loss.
