BRONX, New York (Ticker) -- David Wells get one more chance to make his case for a start in the first round of the playoffs on Sunday as the New York Yankees and Baltimore Orioles complete their respective seasons at Yankee Stadium.

Yankees manager Joe Torre announced that Mike Mussina, Andy Pettitte and Roger Clemens will start the first three games of the American League Division Series against the Minnesota Twins. He did not decide whether Wells or Mussina would start a potential Game Four if needed.

Wells (14-7, 4.25 ERA), who is trying for his 200th career win, has lost four of his last six decisions after opening the season 12-3. He gave up three runs and nine hits in seven innings against the Chicago White Sox on Monday but did not get a decision.

The veteran lefthander, who pitched for Baltimore in 1996, has lost his only two starts against the his former team this season. He is 12-10 with a 4.17 ERA in 38 lifetime appearances - 26 starts - against the Orioles.

Baltimore hands the ball to Eric DuBose, who is 1-2 with a 9.00 ERA in five career appearances against New York, including two starts. He posted his first career win over the Yankees on September 17.

DuBose (3-5, 3.71) followed his win over New York with a start against the Boston Red Sox on Monday. He gave up two runs - one earned - two hits and five walks in five innings but did not get a decision.

The Yankees secured their 100th victory and tied the Atlanta Braves for the best record in baseball with a 6-2 victory over the Orioles on Saturday.

Roger Clemens won his final regular season start and rookie Juan Rivera homered and drove in four runs for New York, which has won 100 games 17 times, including three under Torre.

Derek Jeter had three hits and is just percentage points behind Boston's Bill Mueller for the American League lead. The Red Sox face the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in their season finale Sunday afternoon.

Jeter would jump ahead of Mueller if he singles in his first at-bat on Sunday and could then sit out to secure his first batting title. But Mueller, who likely will not start, could enter Boston's game to reclaim the lead.
