Colorado Rockies at San Diego Padres
5:00 pm
Recap | Boxscore

SAN DIEGO (Ticker) -- The San Diego Padres play their final game at Qualcomm Stadium as they host the Colorado Rockies in the finale of a three-game series on Sunday.

The Padres have played here since entering the National League in 1969. The facility was originally named San Diego Stadium before it was renamed for local sportswriter Jack Murphy.

San Diego clinched the National League pennant here in 1984 and lost deciding games of the World Series here in 1984 and 1998.

The Padres will move into PETCO Field next season, a baseball-only facility located in downtown San Diego.

In their final night game, the Padres suffered a 10-2 loss as Colorado's Larry Walker set the all-time club record for RBI and Preston Wilson drove in two runs to increase his total to 141, which is tied with Toronto's Carlos Delgado for the major league lead.

Jake Peavy (12-11, 4.10 ERA) takes the mound for the Padres and tries to finish his second season above .500. He has won three of his last four decisions and owns a 7-4 career record at Qualcomm.

Peavy allowed one run and five hits in seven innings Tuesday but did not gain a decision in a 2-1, 10-inning loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers. The 22-year-old righthander is 2-2 with a 3.51 ERA in four career starts vs. the Rockies.

Colorado starts Darren Oliver (13-11, 4.91), who is trying to establish a career-high for wins. He was 14-6 for Texas in 1996.

Oliver has won his last three starts following a season-high five-game losing streak from August 9-September 6. In Tuesday's 20-9 home victory over Arizona, he picked up the win despite allowing four runs and seven hits in five innings.

The veteran lefthander is 5-2 with a 4.47 ERA in eight career starts vs. the Padres.
